DOWNitUP desktop is a free, ad-free beta distributed as a versioned binary. This build is not currently notarized, so macOS Gatekeeper may block it initially. Verify its SHA-256 checksum in the release manifest and proceed only if you downloaded it from the official release link.
macOS Installation Guide
Open the installer
Locate the downloaded DOWNitUP-1.0.1.dmg file in your Downloads folder and double-click to open it.
Drag to Applications
Drag the DOWNitUP icon into the Applications shortcut folder in the window that appears.
Attempt to run the app
Open your Applications directory and double-click DOWNitUP. A system warning dialog will appear stating that the app is from an unidentified developer. Click OK or close the dialog.
Navigate to Settings
Open your Mac's System Settings (or System Preferences) from the Apple Menu in the top left corner and go to Privacy & Security.
Allow Untrusted App
Scroll down to the "Security" section. You will see a note saying "DOWNitUP was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer". Click Open Anyway.
Confirm launch
Authenticate using your administrator password or Touch ID, then click Open on the final dialog to run the app. Subsequent launches will open normally without warnings.
Getting Started After Install
Add your first download
Start a new download in the app and paste a direct HTTP link to a file, or drop in a magnet link to begin a torrent. DOWNitUP handles both from the same window.
Find your files
Completed downloads are saved to your Downloads folder by default. Once a transfer finishes, you can open the file's location directly from the app.
Speed and resume
DOWNitUP splits files into multiple connections to accelerate transfers, and keeps track of progress automatically. If your connection drops or you quit the app, downloads pick up right where they left off.
Troubleshooting
"Unidentified developer" warning
Because this beta release is unsigned, Gatekeeper may block the first launch. Instead of double-clicking, right-click the app and choose Open, or go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. You only need to do this once.
Apple Silicon or Intel?
No need to choose. The DMG linked above is the only macOS build and runs on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
